The Vale of Clwyd has one of North Wales’s strongest fruit-growing traditions. Its Denbigh Plum now has protected PDO status, reflecting a history of orchards that once numbered in the hundreds across the Vale. That horticultural tradition continues in newer forms too. Around Llandyrnog, seasonal organic fruit and vegetables are grown using no-dig, regenerative and low-input methods, linking modern market gardening with a landscape that has supported fruit production for centuries.
