Grey Trees Brewery makes cask and keg ales in Aberdare, including Afghan Pale Ale, Digger's Gold golden ale, Mosaic Pale Ale and Drummer Boy bitter. Its range also includes seasonal beers, while a newer in-house canning line packages beer in 500ml cans. Brewing began in 2011 in Llwydcoed, whose name translates as 'Grey Trees', before the brewery moved to Robertstown. It uses local Welsh water, British malts and hops from around the world. Grey Trees also runs the National Tap in central Aberdare, serving its own ales alongside guest breweries' beers.
