The Blaenafon Cheddar Company in Blaenavon makes handmade cheddar, with family-made cheeses free from artificial preservatives and colourings. Its 1868 cheddar is matured below ground in the cellars of The Lion Hotel, while other cheddars are flavoured with local drinks including Celtic Spirit whisky, Brains ales and Taffy Apple cider. Gift packs, hampers and cheddar-and-drink pairings extend the range, but handmade cheddar remains the main line from the Broad Street premises.
